October Rust's display sim, Duskwood, has returned to the grid. Now you can see a selection of October Rust builds set in idyllic surroundings. Accompanied by October Rust trees, gazebos and other garden products.

Like most October Rust products trees are low prim while keeping them realistic, they are a perfect balance of prim saving and realism, each tree is only 6 prims.

October Rust homes incorporate the prim saving properties of sculpts, to save on prims and add detail. Some of the newer builds are almost entirely compose of sculpties.

The graveyard includes: The old chapel, 14 grave markers, 4 trees, copy pews, copy fencing and 2 candelabra. It does not include Silas, sorry, he kept running off.

Bloodstained Trees

Túrin is famed as the slayer of the first dragon,Glaurung. Captured at Bar-en-Danwedh, his friend Beleg set out to rescue him, and tracked his captors into the woods of Taur-nu-Fuin. There, he met Gwindor, an Elf of Nargothrond who had escaped the dungeons of Morgoth. Together they released Túrin from the Orcs who held him. Túrin woke suddenly during the rescue and mistook Beleg for an enemy, and slew him.

For a long time, Túrin was filled with a madness of grief over his act, but after he was healed, Gwindor led him to his old home at Nargothrond. There, Túrin concealed his identity, hoping to hide from the dark fate Morgoth had set for him. In memory of his slaying of Beleg, he took a new name, Agarwaen, meaning 'Bloodstained'.

October Rust bring you this Bloodstained tree in homage to Túrin(Agarwaen) and this sad tale.

We currently have several plots vacant in Dusk.

Each plot is a square 4096m plot, 937 prims with rental price of L$1700 per week, with a minimum of 4 weeks required. 2048 size plots can be created if you are after something smaller.

Dusk is a gothic, fae, fantasy, country victorian, dark age sim... basically anything green and lush. Dusk is home to Faeries, Vampires, Fauns and other wondrous folk.

The center of the island is a large elven garden, reserved as common space fo all residents to enjoy.

Our rental land is very similar to purchased land, you are free to:

Name your plot
rez your home and buildings
terraform and build gardens as you would on purchased land

Dusk is a full class 5 sim (not an openspace/homestead/void). A copy of the covenant for the island is available by clicking on one of the "For Rent" signs.

Sculptured Chapel from October Rust.

Virtually completely sculptured this build features prim gothic arch windows, gothic entrance and sculptured lighting to the front columns. The roof line has a large cone dome in the centre and the perimeter is adorned with spires.

In a departure from my usual furniture designs, October Rust bring you this modern leather sofa and matching chair. What's this I hear you cry, modern??? Well, I offered to make something for a friend and as usual I got carried away, the item didn't end up suiting their needs but I had fun making it non the less and decided to release it.

The sofa features 3 individually scripted cushion to allow 3 avatars to select the pose of their choice simultaneously. A notecard in each cushion allows you to adjust pose positioning and the more adventurous can even add new poses.

The sofa and chair are constructed using original, purpose made sculpties, baked textures and original poses.

Okay, so it's a little late give that May is days from over but the sentiment is there! In the northern hemisphere summer is a comin-in and winter has gone away. Personally I prefer winter and being in the southern hemisphere it all works well for me ;) So to celebrate I have finally fixed the roof on the Celtic Home.

This is an older October Rust home that has had some roof work. I've redesigned the roof sculpties more in the manner I originally intended. Hazzah!

Utterly Useless from October Rust

Occasionally people ask why I make things. Primarily, I make things because I like to, the items I make are for my own enjoyment, for friends or to see if I can achieve something. I'm happy that others enjoy my items and I've been able to set up my small shop. Many items never see the light of day, or are given to friends, or just lie around my home.

So, here are a few of said, utterly useless items.

Paying homage to my favourite brewery, Wychwood. It's a barrel, but it's only 1 prim!! It does absolutely nothing and is in effect... utterly useless.

A collection of utterly useless barrels! But look at that tap! Not bad for 1 prim!

A bottle of Blackwych stout! No anims, it's just meant to sit around and use up a prim.

I was bored one evening and decided to make this for a friend. It just sits there, using prims and looking good, but it's largely useless!

Web Candles

...And so hyasynth dresses us is shades of black. Beloved, the new outfit from Silent Sparrow and possibly the best male outfit evah!

The level of detail in this outfit is breath taking, the intricate lace and exquisite shading combine to produce an amazing garment. The quality and crasftspersonship just shines, or it would if its blackness wasn't absorbing all light ;) What I love about this is the detail and care that has gone into a delicate outfit for males, we don't see it in SL enough! Although, Silent Sparrow has produced many quality outfits for bois in the past and my wardrobe would be severely lacking otherwise. I can personally attest to the care that has gone into this outfit's construstion - I was hya's guinea pig for the fitting, even though she was rude about my height, 'You're a monster!' it fits like a dream.

I'm wearing it here with the optional 'blood' shirt. The only change I had to make was combining the collar and cravat to attach to the chest to free the back for my wings, a change most wing challenged folk wouldn't have to make.

Oh, I almost forgot, it's available for women too ;)

Inspired by Gothic Victorian architecture, this build should appeal to fans of the Victorian era.

The Edgar, features weathered whitewashed boards and gothic windows to the facade. Inside is decorated in rich dark flock wallpaper and wood panelling. There are 2 main living floors and an attic.

October Rust and friends are offering beautiful residential land for rent in their new sim, Dusk.

Dusk is a gothic, fae, fantasy and medieval sim. Plots surround an enchanting fae grove, this is a common area for all residents to share. It includes, dances, cuddles, intemate animations and is a delightful place to explore or just a peaceful place to catch your breath.

Plots available include 2048 and 4096 sqm. Our aim is to provide a beautiful living environment at a reasonable cost.

Rental land is very similar to purchased land, you are free to rezz your homes, terraform and build gardens as you would on purchased land. The main difference is there is no need for a lump sum land purchase and there is no resale of the land - once your rental period expires, the land reverts back to the Dusk island owners group.

Okay, I'm a Lord of the Rings geek/dork. I mean... I'm not a big reader... but I've read the Silmarillion many times. I love Tolkiens world, so I guess it was inevertable that a Tolkien build would surface... I built this while avoiding work on another build. Orthanc, the tower on the river Isen, occupied by Saruman and home of a Palantir, the Orthanc-Stone.

Candles!

I have just updated my single prim candles. They have been completely re-scripted so now they can be scaled to any size. Stretch them to the required size - touch them twice and the flame will re-position itself. You no longer need to buy sizes!

As a sculptor I have been wrestling lately with SL being unkind to my sculpties, they randomly add a blob or three and sometimes refuse to rez them fully! But, I'm really happy to say the new Windlight viewer is brilliant for scupties! See them as they really look! The same blobacious sculptie in the standard viewer looks crisp and clear in Windlight. If you haven't tried Windlight you can download it here. I certainly hope this level of clarity is added to the standard viewer soon.

The Dauphine - New Deluxe Range

It's done!

The Dauphine is the first of a new 'Deluxe' line of homes by October Rust. It features many additions such as furniture, lighting, shading and poses. Don't be alarmed by the primage - I have packaged the home using layers - furniture layer, candles layer... So, if it is too heavy on prims for you can easily remove a layer.

This home also features the new October Rust Doors v1.2 - with Access control, customisable greetings, sounds on/off and open time.

The controls just inside the door open and close the windows and add or remove the rug from the floor.

I'm trying a few new techniques with this build. Firstly the use of shadows to give the home some depth. This has meant customising many of the textures and the addition of a few prims. So the prim count on this build will be higher than my usual.

This home will also include furniture, lighting and poses. All of this adds to primage which I intend to combat with the use of 'layers' when packaging the home. There will be furniture layers, shadow layers and fittings layers... That should make it easy for the owner to trim down the prims if required.

It is inside this build where it really shines, a small home (20 x 15) which has a rich luxurious feel.

Celtic SkyBox - Referbished

One of October Rusts most popular items is the Celtic SkyBox. A small private home in the clouds, an ideal romantic getaway.

As it has become more popular than I thought, I decided to release a deluxe version. This new version features a purple forest scene and sculpted purple furniture.

For a while now I've been building and designing with my friend Serra Anansi for her shop In Perpetua. Providing gothic and dark victorian builds to to the people of Second Life. As my range is expanding and I'm moving into furniture and playing around with sculpties I decided to launch my own brand 'October Rust'.

October Rust provides quality builds of Gothic, Dark Victorian, Celtic and Palatial homes and skyboxes. I'm am also working on furniture and lighting.
